12/03/18 - Rev 2

Dec 3, 2018

To the one who overcomes, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God. Rev 2:7

Eternal life is not given to us just because we want it or expect it, it's given because we live for it.

If you NEVER had to grow old and die, how would it change your behavior & lifestyle.

Those who are in such a hurry to experience something would feel free to wait.  That urgency to get married, have children, make money, build a retirement, experience a trip would not feel pressured to make it happen, and could enjoy their moments in life now.

Those who are drawn to try new things could take their time and learn new skills, or start taking lessons, and keep growing their abilities & skills without concern about losing time.

Those in a hurry to accomplish a goal could relax and wait for it to happen.

Those who feel like they can’t take a day off or spend a day with God, could enjoy that day knowing they still have an eternity ahead of them.

To put it simply, you would be able to OVERCOME all of the stress, pressure, and expectations this world tries to throw on you.  And that would include the temptation of sin and the pressure to be something you’re not designed to be.

The problem isn’t our short-term lifespans, the problem is our thinking.  Our lives would be SO RADICALLY DIFFERENT if we understood the gift of eternal life we’ve been given!  You don’t have to be in a hurry, because you have all of eternity to learn, grow, do, enjoy, become!

What are your goals for this coming year?  Set challenging goals.  Push yourself.  Stretch and grow.  Don’t waste time.  But don’t restrict your success by time either.  Whatever you don’t finish this year, keep working on for the next year.  And if your life ends on earth, you can just continue on those goals in eternity.

We have been given access to the tree of life.  Jesus is that tree!  If you know Jesus and love Him, you are able to live forever and not be in a hurry.  Take the pressure off, and overcome!
